If you didn't know already, I went to Macworld last week from Tuesday to Thursday. Each day I had a plan:
- Tuesday: MacBreak Weekly recording at the 21st Amendment
- Wednesday: Diggnation recording at the North Hall
- Thursday: Mac podcasters' meetup+mingle
Finally, the last day that I would be going to Macworld had arrived, and this was a big one. First of all, there was a Mac Podcasters' meetup at the Apple Store in San Francisco where a bunch of Mac podcasters went over the Macworld announcements. In the meantime, I sat on the side just chilling on my Macbook Pro because, frankly, I had heard it all several times already. After that, I moved on to the mingle at Jillian's Bar and Cafe. That place was incredibly packed. After talking to innumerable people, I sat down with Leo and bought a Pizza, and some guy bought me a Sprite (again, because I'm underage...damn the law).
Now here's the kicker. I had a train to catch back to San Jose at 10pm, so Leo told me he would get me a ride to the station at 9:30. I should have urged him to leave a bit earlier, but I was caught up in the moment. Once we managed to leave around 9:35, we rushed over to the parking garage. There, the valet decided to take his own sweet time. Still, we believed that there was time enough to get to the station. We were cutting it, but I arrived at the station at 10:59. Rushing to the ticket booth, I quickly purchased my ticket, but alas, it was too late. Feeling bad for me, Leo drove me home all the way in San Jose. I felt terrible, and had a huge argument with my parents about why they couldn't understand my plight.
So, I ended Macworld on a low note, but hey, it was all still fun. I can't wait till the Podcast Expo in September now. Now, it's back to homework for school.
Yeah so all of you probably know that I'm Leo Laporte's shownotes taker person. I'm in charge of shownotes for the KFI Tech Guy, TWiT, MacBreak Weekly, and (now) This Week in Law. All of the Internets is talking about how Leo's going to cancel the TWiT. So today I was scrolling up and down my buddy list and see something about how TWiT may be no more in Leo's Gtalk status. I ask him why and he was very, very angry that his cohosts did not take TWiT seriously even with the incentive of money (and its quite a bit of money) per show. And now, he thinks that TWiT is ALLEGEDLY (nobodylikesonions.com) flatlining.
Now, look at the genius of this "publicity stunt". So, TWiT is "flatlining" eh? Lets get some major publicity and say TWiT is going away! OH NOES the biggest tech podcast in the world is going to go away!? This news is all over the Internet and hit the front page of Digg. So obviously people are going to go back and listen to the back-catalogue of TWiT to "relive the old days" or if they are new to the show or if their interest has renewed. Has TWiT not gained a bajillion new subscribers either way? Not only has this fear of TWiT going away renewed interest in the show, but it has also discovered new listeners to podcasting.
Any publicity is good publicity, and everyone should know that. TWiT is NOT going to go away. Its all a huge plan to renew interest in the show. No way would Dell stay on as a sponsor if TWiT were to go away.
Yeah enough conspiracy making...PUBLICITY STUNT
